I think it's a consideration thing? I haven't really thought about it too hard before..
Like, I don't want to get anything on someone's clothes, or make a mess of the table and make it hard to clean up if I'm out somewhere.
Though you did specify that it's someone with a rough personality. Taught table manners by someone strict that it became a habit? That kind of thing?
