[ he feels like isagi just gave him a weird(?) look, in the sense that it's not a look that isagi would normally give him... but kaiser will let it go in favor of starting up the movie.

he's quiet while the movie is ongoing, and stares at the screen in a way that makes it clear... he is taking watching this movie so, so seriously. ]

[ It's interesting to Isagi to watch Kaiser, even more than the movie though he has to keep focusing hard to follow along the story. But still he'd never have guessed that movies would make Kaiser intense not too far from the way he gets about soccer even. Before long his drink is gone and Isagi lays back as he tries to focus on the screen.

The story is getting more than a little out of hand...

[ in retrospect, kaiser probably shouldn't have elaborated on what he meant when he alluded to going gone girl on isagi, because the whole thing is a massive red flag. but surely the red flags are a part of his charm? considering he's got dozens of them...?

anyways: kaiser seems satisfied when the movie comes to a close... there's a few moments when he's silent through the credits, clearly thinking about something. formulating his thoughts on the movie, probably. ]

Hmm... still holds up on a rewatch, not bad. [ amy, he loves you and he understands you— ]

[ There's a lot that he didn't totally pick up from the movie but he did at least get those vibes maybe. ]

[ well that’s even more confusing but you know what, he’ll just shrug it off and go with the flow. ]

Well, it is surprisingly deep. [ he's so for real right now. he's... genuinely sharing an opinion on the matter. ] It's pretty metatextual at some points, it doesn't pretend to be maintain realism in the details. Not the easiest to follow, I guess.

[ Isagi tilts his head and he's more interested in how Kaiser talks about the movie than he was in the movie. ]

So, what do you think the point of it actually is then?

... That the truth doesn't matter as much as taking control of the narrative. Like what the wife does to the media at the end. Like what the husband tries to do to the media too, but she knows so she gets ahead of him. And it's in the way that the movie itself changes perspectives, makes her seem like a cold-blooded villainess from the point of view of the husband, but you just can't help but sympathize with her when she gets to explain things from her point of view, can you? She was wronged first.

[ which is probably the most that kaiser has ever had to say all at once on something that isn't soccer, so. there's that. ]

I never really sympathized that much with her, though. But I guess that makes sense. I never really put that much thought into movies before.

[ Maybe that is just pure stubbornness also. ]

[ It's hard to pin him down but he definitely thinks Kaiser is probably better than Kaiser thinks he is. ]

[ Isagi rolls his eyes, though and he reaches for a drink. ]

[ he leans back, crossing his arms and half-closing his eyes... it's less that he's relaxing and more that he's made himself more lax, somehow. ]

Let's see what you do when somebody asks you something you really don't want to answer, or starts poking at your nerves directly, or wants to rake you right through the coals... then we'll see about that, hm?

Maybe that won't happen to me since I'm not a giant asshole like some people.

Oh, please, Yoichi. The media loves me, I get them the views they need. [ the naivete is adorable, though, he's snickering... ] Besides, that's not how it works. I hear all the sports news outlets in Japan were sucking Sae Itoshi's dick for years only to turn around and call him a war criminal for... what was it? The crime of not taking playing around with children seriously?
